Accepted to BNI!

My application to Brave Newbies was accepted! I spent the 2 days after my acceptance letter flying around consolidating my assets and selling off what I could. Had to train up trading a bit so I could sell more than 1 thing at a time, so that was fun.

I then spent a fair number of hours reading up on everything BNI, and I was absolutely dumbfounded at the amount of knowledge these guys have got on their various websites and forums. There's more to read here than I could read in a year if I really dedicated myself to it. I'm lucky I already know enough of the terminology that this isn't all Greek to me. Still, it's been all I could manage to not let this influx of information overwhelm me.

I've sold off most of my high-sec assets, set my clone to BNI's home system, and self-destructed.

Welcome to null Pitiful Heartless! You are not prepared!

Among the other gems I discovered was a page written by a BNI member that basically walks you through the low level skills that you'll need to be not a loser missing essential skills, and while I had about 98% of the low level skills he mentioned already up to level 3, there were a few I missed, for example, leadership, surveying, archaeology, and so on, that have since been added to queue.

So what to do, now that I'm in null? I've got more questions than answers. So what I do know is that I'm currently without anything to fly since I took the pod express? I spent some time checking out both the corp fittings tabs, and also the local market, and these guys look pretty stocked out, so I followed some of the first advice I was ever given in EVE: don't fly anything you can't afford to lose. I took a look at the BNI Doctrine, and selected the Merlin to start off with. I bought 5 complete with newbro fittings... got to replace this newbro fit ASAP!

Got connected to Mumble, and I have to say ... I already feel fantastic. There are a plethora of people online at my normal playtime, which to be honest was something I'd been fretting about because of my prior experiences with inactive corps/alliances.

Had a nice chat with a Brave Dojo officer to confirm what information was kosher to post here and what I should avoid. They directed me to the BNI Reddit page and advised me to post a link here so others can read, so I've also registered on Reddit, and will be posting this page up soon! To all the people from BNI reading this, please, let me know what you think, and how I can improve! Your comments are greatly appreciated!

Basically I was just told the obvious stuff, don't post fleet locations and compositions in real time, blah blah. Nothing I hadn't already guessed, so that's good. That having been said, I'll also avoid mentioning any players by name in future unless I'm granted permission by the pilot in question. Wish I had more time to play tonight, but it's already late for me, and I have an early morning tomorrow at work, so I'll have to leave you all with a simple, 'Fly safe! Can't wait to fleet up and go blow people up or die trying!' As long as we have a good time doing it together, I don't care which tbh :P

I suppose being in BNI, I can no longer salute in the typical way ... I've learned that BNI salutes backwards for ... whatever reason. I'm sure someone will enlighten me sooner or later)))

Fair winds and following seas Pilots!
Fly safe. 7o
